In May 2011, we asked you to ‘imagine Dubbo’ in the year 2036. Setting out on one of the most comprehensive community-based planning processes in the City’s history, hundreds of ideas, views and visions were put forward to create a long-term strategy for Dubbo.

Prior to the implementation of the Draft Dubbo 2036 Community Strategic Plan from 1 July 2012, we’d like to know what you think about how the Plan will be delivered.

Dubbo City Council’s response and commitment to Dubbo 2036 is reflected in a draft four-year Delivery Program – now on public exhibition until 31 May 2012. It captures what Council plans to do by when.

1. Redevelop the Dubbo hospital and create Dubbo as a regional centre of excellence for health

2. Define and promote Dubbo's unique culture and cultural heritage; harnessing community pride and defining a promotional aspect for Dubbo

3. Develop an iconic Dubbo festival or event ad promote artistic and creative expression in the community

4. Prepare a Sports and Recreation Strategy for the City to ensure the best use of existing resources and facilities, and plan for future growth and opportunities

5. Revitalise the river and use it as a focus for leisure and dining activities

6. Grow Dubbo's university offerings to attract and retain young people in Dubbo

7. Encourage retail and hospitality ventures to create a vibrant city centre
